Triploid hybrid obtained from controlled pollination conducted in 1996 between a diploid Fortune mandarin as the female parent and a Kara mandarin as the male parent. Flowered for the first time in 2001 with fruit evaluated from the 2002/2003 campaign to present.
Vigorous tree with a tendency to grow in an open, weeping manner. Flat shape with very flexible branches and a brown trunk. Leaves are large and dark green in colour, and are both shiny and slightly spatula-shaped. Good compatibility with the Citrange Carrizo.
Although a few thorns may appear in the first shoots, hardly any will be found in the final shoots, with only 25% of the nodes featuring thorns of an average length of 5mm.
Early to flower and bear fruit, predominantly bell-shaped flowers. Abundant fruit yield without a tendency towards alternate harvests. Fruit ripens as of the first fortnight in March with a maturation index of 8 and remains well on the tree until the beginning of April.
Thickness between 55 and 60mm, with a flattened form and convex area around the peduncle. Attractive fruit that is easy to peel, with a melting texture and no segment residue.
During ripening, the quantity of soluble solids is 15ºBrix, with an acidity level of 14g/L; vivid orange colour (ICC=18) and a juice percentage of 50%. Seedless and no symptoms of Alternaria fungi, whether in trees cultivated in experimental lots at a high inoculum, or in leaves inoculated in vitro.
